From how she was a week ago, she looks well. Apart from the lump on the side of her head, and the wide bruise on her hip that she keeps hidden, she came out unscathed. The palms she had scraped raw grappling with a concrete block are easily explained away as being clumsy. ]

[ After washing her hands, she stands at his elbow. She can name everything but the rice (as she had never seen its like) and the sauce (it doesn't smell like any she's encountered). ]

Is that the rice? [ She points to the right object. ]

Nah, it actually grows. [He'll reach up into a cabinet and pull down a bag of uncooked rice, holding it open for her to see] See?

[ She looks up at him. ] Do you eat it a lot where you're from?

Yeah, sorta.

[he nods] It's in a lot of recipes, and pretty cheap too.

[ She props her elbows on the counter. ]
