As you wish. I'm on my way.
action; into forever
So she stands, still and tense in the simulation room. Her arms cross over her chest in a far too guarded gesture. One hand against her opposite arm, nails pressed in so tightly she might of left marks if not for the heavy sleeved dress in the way. The other slid over her pearls like they were a rosary. Silent prayers to herself that this wasn't some great mistake to speak to him.
But her thoughts would not leave her alone, and thus far, he hadn't proved untrustworthy. Still when he arrived, she dipped a curtsey to him, head bowed and her words as pleasant as she could make them despite her obvious tension. ] Master Kaneis. Thank you so much for coming.
and ever and ever
[But Victoria was smarter than that, wasn't she? After all, he still held her own secret, which he had been very dutiful to keep quiet. She seemed intelligent enough not to poke a stick into that hornet's nest.]
[However, there still was the chance that this could be a chance to take his life. He's not convinced it's the case, but he's not ruling it out either. His sword stays at his side as it always does, and there's a knife in his coat pocket - just in case. ]
[But even so, he'll remain polite, giving a slight bow in return to her curtesy- as these things properly go.]
My lady, it's no trouble. Is everything alright?
no subject
A simpering lady she's rather tired of being. She had not lied so much since Mary took the throne. So for a moment she barks a short, all to sarcastic laugh, her hand moving dismissively to his inquiry. ]
Is anyone alright here? Look at the state of us all. [ Her words shook with something she hadn't worked out yet -- fear, anger, hurt. Hard to tell, and it was probably all of them. ]
no subject
[He does hear those feelings in her words, it's something he's been hearing again and again the past month. Been feeling constantly himself as well, to the point that yet again it felt so overwhelming that it made it hard to feel many things at all. It was..odd, how it worked]
[But he'll look at the control panel of the open simulation room. He's getting better at figuring it out how it works, even if he's not an expert]
Uh...any preferences to settings?
no subject
Easier to say what she misses most. ]
Country side. [ England has he never would of seen it, she supposes. It's open forests where she'd spent so much of her time hunting. ] In the spring.
no subject
[He glances in, a bit curious. It's...different from what he's used to, but definitely pretty in ways he can appreciate]
Hey, nice choice.
no subject
It shouldn't have been so calming, but it was. Filled up her lungs and brought a smile, even if it was only brief. ]
It is a pleasant fiction. [ Her hands unclenched and smoothed down her dress. A reassuring gesture to herself. ] It is what my country looked like once. Spring would come, and after so long kept in palaces, we would leave and ride for hours just to feel the air.
no subject
I...would've never guessed.
no subject
I can forgive you for that. [ As if her opinion mattered, but she was still arrogant. ] It is impossible to imagine over what is -- was -- there. [ she paused briefly to swallow down on those words unsure of how to proceed. ] There were the wild forests, where the King hunts. They are kept free of bandits most rigorously, and the deer roam there freely. The gardens near court though, they are places for laughter and merriment. All manner of lords and ladies walk through there, for it always smells sweet with flowers...
[ And strangely enough, being able to speak of it openly, even if it was the most mundane of topics.... was relieving. She missed her home, she couldn't stop that or help it, but being able to share it, even falsely, was a weight lifted. ]
no subject
It sounds beautiful. Hard to imagine a King getting an entire forest to hunt through, though.
no subject
[ Unfitting as it was for a woman, there was a thrill of having something to chase down, as a man would. To have blood on her hands and be vicious about her ability. As good as an prince, as any King. ]
Do you do such things where you come from?
no subject
[Even if theirs...differs a lot from stag hunts. But he shakes his head ]
Heh, not really. The wilderness in my world is full of monsters, so it's a lot more dangerous than Earth's countryside. Nobles and knights will use them for training, of course but...our King isn't the sort to risk himself for sport.
no subject
[ She laughed dryly. ] Yes that is why the King has his own forest. Though not from monsters, just to keep out the worst of men. [ She walked a little further ahead of him, into the false forest. Hearing the leaves crunch under her shoes and the rustling of her skirts on the ground. She held herself differently here. Her back straight, her shoulders stiff. ] Why does your King not partake in such things? Does he not like it?
[ Holding herself up to this man she would never meet -- it made her curious what sort of ruler he was. Mistakes she should learn from, in one way or another. ]
no subject
[Party wondering still, what the point of this all and if she'll be attempting to kill him anytime soon. But he follows along, thinking. It's odd, he spent most of his life around the king- but always at arm's length. Always seen as a potential threat even when he was nothing more than a six year old who was expected to fill his father's shoes. It didn't harbor much closeness]
I don't know if he did or not, I wasn't close to him. But...right now, while Tethe'alla is prospering, it's a fragile state. There's only one heir, the queen passed away and the King himself had taken ill recently- but that turned out to be his bastard half-brother poisoning him for the throne.
[he shrugs] With that state of things, I can see him not wanting to take the risk of hunting on top of it all.
no subject
[ Not again. Her fingers scrunched up as if she still held the blood soaked clothe. Don't send boys to fight wars. She would never make that mistake again. ]
No I can see why -- [ She gave a short barked laughter despite the serious of the topic. ] That is wise of him... Country before pleasure, nay?
no subject
[His world's legends speak of a war that lasted a thousand years. He wonders...how many thought they'd be done with it within a year? That they'd be home by new years?]
I guess so. I don't envy him, though.
