[Argh, why is it always food that gets offered? Oh right, because that's how the emotionally stunted solve most problems.]

[He looks a bit uncomfortable and shakes his head] Heh...nah, that's alright. I'm not really all that hungry.

But hey, c'mon, it's not like I poisoned anyone...! [So rude to knock his cooking!!]

[Not a good answer, judging by the look Luke is giving him.]

I know it's dumb for me to say this, but you've been acting kinda weird lately.

[There were many times where he didn't notice such a thing, but after Anise's behavior, after everything in Exsilium, he's tried to be a little more... observant.]

When you say it's complicated, do you mean it has to do with the...

[He touches his exposed collar in the approximate place where Kaneis' Cruxis Crystal would be.]

Aren't I always weird?

[But jokes aside, he feels his stomach drop a little at that gesture. That's right, Luke knew about that. He eyes the crowds, a bit nervously. He's not sure if anyone is paying attention to them. But elves's large ears had to be used for something, right?]

Heh...you know, it's kind of crowded here for that conversation, Luke.

[That wasn't a yes or no. If Luke thinks about it a little more, he might realize that Kaneis wasn't exempt from the power fuckery and it's messing him up. That would make sense, since Luke lost his powers entirely and Asch has been struggling to regain his strength.]

... We don't have to talk about it here. Or... at all. But if you're having trouble, you don't have to hide it, okay?

[Yeah, that's rich coming from Luke, and he knows it.]

[YEAH VERY RICH LUKE. He considers his options, taking a moment to think each scenario in your head. Finally he seems to give a defeated sigh]

Nah, if I don't talk you'll keep giving me those big worried looks of yours and that'll just make everyone notice.

[Seriously Luke, he's seen you with Asch. Subtly is not your forte]

Let's just...go somewhere more private, okay?

Y-you don't really think -- [Oh jeez, being called out on his moe. His cheeks flush.]

... Okay.

Sorry Luke. You got a lot of great traits, but subtly isn't one of them.

[YOU ARE THE MOST MOE GINGER. And Zelos will make sure he has everything he wants in his bag before slinging it over his shoulder and walking towards one of the exits of the city.]

[Luke follows him, feeling a little bit like a lost little kid.]

Ah... hahah, yeah, I've been told that I'm a bad liar.

[He keeps walking. Luckily, he knows his way around pretty well since he's got nothing better to do than wander some days.]

You're an honest guy. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

[If anything, it's one of the things that makes Zelos actually like the kid]

I don't like lying, even when it's for a good cause. It just makes me feel like a criminal.

[Lorelei knows he doesn't need any more of that.]

But... I know lying is necessary, sometimes. Or hiding things.

[Okay, that makes him look over and smile a little with a some teasing] ...Heh. Don't worry. I didn't think you were calling me a criminal or whatever.

[And a bit more walking before they reach a clearing a bit away from the city and the main road. It seems like a pretty nice spot. ]

This should probably be good enough.

O-of course not! But there was one time where we lied to one of Dist's subordinates to get something back, but he wouldn't give it up, so Tear knocked him out. We just took it and ran. That kind of thing really rubs me the wrong way... even if we had no choice.

[He rubs at the back of his head and glances around.]

... Something's really wrong, isn't it?

Seriously? You did that? Jeez, like his life wasn't hard enough working under that nutjob?

[Okay, he can probably see why they'd need to do that. But hey, a troll's gotta troll. Especially when there's a sensitive issue at hand. Which, he frowns a little, hesitating before he answers]

...It's my powers. They...seem to be coming back.

[BLEGH. Not that he can disagree there.] He wouldn't even give it to Ion, and Ion was Dist's superior! So he kind of brought it on himself.

[Anyway, back to the matter at hand. Luke's eyes widen, but he doesn't understand the complete ramifications of this.]

Oh, no... It hurts, right? Like when you had to take it off before? I can find a healer, or--

Hm, really? Well I guess you would have to be a little stubborn and crazy yourself to have that position....Oh well.

[He shrugs it off, and gives a headshake at Luke]

It doesn't hurt right now. There's nothing a healer could do anyway.

[He nods. He'd volunteer himself, but he's still not that confident in his use of the Light.]

It's not as easy as just re-learning what you knew... huh.

[He could've sworn there was talk of a transformation or something.]

Heh, if only.

[There's a pause, as he thinks what to say]

To get all my power back, I gotta through the Angel Transformation. It's...a long and unpleasant process, to say the least. If I had a choice, I'd probably choose to just stick with being human, even if it meant I'd be weaker.

But...looks like I really don't get a say in the matter anyway.

[Luke never thought of Zelos as anything less than human, so he's surprised to hear that he won't be. But he knew, too, that Zelos was an angel-- he just ignored it.]

... I'm sorry, [he murmurs, feeling useless.] I know it's not the same thing and I don't want imply anything-- but when I was falling apart, I found out that it helped if someone was with me. So, I can stay with you if it... starts to hurt again, or bother you, or something like that. I won't tell anyone, either.

[Human, not human- frankly, Zelos isn't entirely sure what he's supposed to be. When people spent his whole life treating him like some inhuman thing, but he wasn't anything like the angels of Cruxis (nor did he want to be anything like them)...well, it was a bit confusing to say the least]

It's not your fault. [Even if he knows Luke is trying to show sympathy. But at least he seems humbled a little at the offer. Even if he's not entirely sure what to do with it] I...

[Trying to find the answer, and nope he's got nothing. What the fuck is friendship.]

No offense, but I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do with an offer like that. I tend to do stuff on my own, you know?

[Luke blinks at how straightforward Zelos is, but then he smiles, and it seems for a moment like the conversation is lighter than it really is.]

It's okay. I'm not really used to having friends, either.

But... I feel like it's the right thing to do. Offering, I mean. If you're struggling with your powers, it's not good for you to be alone. You could get really hurt if someone caught you at a bad time, you know?

[wilder]

[Argh don't use logic on him. That's just mean. He even looks kinda miffed that Luke used an argument he can't exactly refute. ]

...And you're sure you won't tell anyone? You are an honest guy.

[LMAO HE WASN'T EVEN TRYING.]

I haven't told anyone, and I've known about the angel thing for a while. It's-- I don't want to say it's a secret for a secret, because it's not, but it's something that you'd want to tell people yourself. If you wanted to. And if you don't want to, then it's not a big deal anyway.

[He seems to ease up a little with a headshake, there even seems to be a faint trace of smile on his face]

I get it, though. And you have been good about not telling anyone so far- I'll give you that. Not that I want people to lie for me, but- [He pauses, rubbing his head]

I dunno. Maybe it's just what happened to Exsilium talking, but...I can't shake the feeling something bad will happen if people in this world find out about these crystals.

[Well, that's better than nothing.

He remembers something bad happening in Exsilium, but not exactly what. That's... odd. He touches his temple for a moment, seemingly distracted, and then he lets it go.]

I know that feeling... I was afraid they'd find out about hyperresonance and send me to the United Earth to destroy it. I would've died if I tried, but...

[He shakes his head lightly.]

No one has to know. But, whether you tell people or not, this transformation is still going to happen. You can't-- take off the crystal now, can you? It's too dangerous, right? I remember how you looked, before...

[He notices the distraction, but he can't really figure out over what. but it seems to pass, so Zelos lets it go. A lot of terrible things happened in his year there, who wouldn't be distracted thinking of that stuff?]

...Fair thing to be afraid of. I wouldn't have put it past the Initiative to try just that.

[So much fondness for them, this one has. He hopes AI is doing okay, but the rest he'd be happy to never think about again.]

You mean when I was dumb enough to take it off? [Sure, he doesn't regret it. It saved his sister. But still, he can admit it was stupid] Yeah, it's probably too late now. I already got my wings back and other's stuff changed too.
