[ she grasps zelos' shirt first, looks up as if to check it's all right. then she walks to allen and slides her arms around his waist.

she doesn't cry. her tears for others dried years ago. she doesn't say anything either; there's nothing to be said. so she holds him like she never was when it was her world she watched burn down with the tents along the river. ]

[He meanwhile keeps his distance while Cat goes to hug him, instead opting to cross his arms over his chest and looking away from Allen. Looking at the floor, at their feet- he's simply not brave enough to face that reaction head on. ]

I don't- I don't know.

[The universe...it always finds a nice answer to that question, he's found. And when it does, it's as it's ripping it away.]

Sorry, but I just...don't.

[He can hear Kaneis behind his own stilted sobs, admitting what he's already aware of. Nobody wants to know. Nobody knows, until it's too late.

He doesn't notice Cat's approach until her arms are already around him, though. His hands fall away, blurred gaze dropping to the girl... stunned, that she would. He thought she was angry with him.

He bends down, just a little, as he tries to fight back against his own tears now in earnest.]

I'm sorry.

[Again. It's quiet. Apologizing for this moment, for the future.]

It's too much...

[ she says nothing, does nothing but grip him a little tighter. ]

[He can't watch this, and he has no idea what more to say. Allen will probably do whatever he pleases, Zelos can never say anything to persuade him. And it's not like he can say anything of comfort. Home is being taken away, thousands are going to die because of their actions, because he needed saving.]

[And so he turns away from the scene while Cat and Allen are preoccupied with one another, and starts to walk away]
