You mean...people can be brought to this place from any point in time too? [He frowns. Oh. That could be bad.] Okay that's...annoying.
[That explains the age thing at least]
But whatever. I take it that Avatar and those two did something more important than be friends. Not that friendship's not important, but Bolin's acting like a total fangirl.
[ ... drawing in a slow breath, korra picks at the fur lining of the pelt at her hips. ]
They ended the hundred year war and brought peace and balance to an ailing world.
[ this is the legacy she has to live up to, and she hasn't even come close to being as good of an avatar as aang was. she might have fun with all the perks being the avatar brings to her, and she honestly only ever has the best intentions no matter how fucked up things might get, but aang defeated fire lord ozai when he was at his most powerful. they founded the united republic of nations and built republic city from the ground up — a melting pot of benders from all nations as well as non-benders and industrialists and people looking for a brand new start.
avatar aang started rebuilding the air nomad nation with his wife katara, the woman who taught korra everything she knows about waterbending, offensive defensive and healing, and the air acolytes.
what has korra done in her time as the avatar?
couldn't airbend. had no spiritual connection. lost her bending. destroyed public property. contemplated ending her life because the next avatar could do so much better than her. escalated a war between her two sister tribes. lost her memories. lost jinora. lost her connection to her past lives, ten thousand years of avatars. got republic city choked by vines and put hundreds, maybe thousands, of people out of their homes.
she might have saved the world, prevented vaatu from taking over and drowning everyone in ten thousand years of darkness, but as far as she's concerned it's her sole accomplishment in a sea of failures. ]
[Wow he's...never seen anyone but warmongers look so down about someone bringing the end of a long war and balance to the world. He was pretty sure that was universally considered a good thing. But he gets it. It's not that hard to tell what she's fretting about, at least- the general gist. So he simply reaches out and gives her a light headpat and smiles reassuringly]
Don't give it too much thought, it'll just mess you up. [Literally man. He knows]
With how driven you are, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if one day you get fans going gaga when they meet you.

backdated to when they were at the station yOLO!!!
It's not ripping! Are you sure you're grabbing the right thing?! Do we need to get the saw back?! [ NEVER WAS BOLIN SO TORN BETWEEN AMUSEMENT AND SHEER HORROR. ]
Oh- ohh, no, yeah, that's definitely right through the heart, huh? Where's the thing that stops him from bleeding everywhere--? [ ........ man he's gonna be in trouble now. ]
[What the fuck guys. What the actual fuck. He has no idea what's going on over there, other than there's apparently drills and hearts and these kids know shit about human anatomy terms.]
[But. Zelos isn't dumb. There's no way they'd be calmly performing a botched surgery on someone right? And Korra wouldn't stand idly by and let them do it right? No way! And he didn't hear any sort of drills. So.]
[...]
[Taking a deep breath. And another deep breath. Maybe counting to ten. Also pinching the bridge of his nose. He waits until he's more calm to speak.]
For crying out loud, they're called arteries. Not strings.
Now just what is going on over there? And how did you guys get drugs? [MAKO HE THOUGHT YOU WERE LAW ABIDING]
[ there's a few more pained yells of exasperation and desperation, and korra and mako take a moment to encourage bolin with more specific instructions while he's high as fuck before korra realizes that zelos is begging for attention — ]
— Huh? [ ????? she already told you? ] Oh! Mako and Bolin found this... "vid-e-yo game"? It mentioned needing teamwork to win, so... they thought it would be easy.
[And that makes him relax more. He had no idea what a vid-e-yo is, but if it's a game it's a game. Even if he's not sure who would make a game about surgery...]
[He gives a little sigh]
You should probably tell 'em to keep their day jobs.
[So he told Zelos that if he did anything stupid, well, he'd be the first to know. Unfortunately that was before he found himself in a lake, breathing like a goddamn fish and promptly freaked out and called Korra.
So when Zelos gets his video message it's Ryan sitting on the ground outside soaking wet, hair plastered to his forehead and mollified expression on his face. But it's quick to turn into a grin.]
Hey. [Well, that's a start.] Um…you're not busy, are you? I kinda need to tell you something.
[He hadn't heard from Ryan in awhile - well over a week. While it was a bit odd, he didn't give it too much thought or concern. Ryan was a teenager and not one he was closely connected to. Therefore, it was pretty safe to assume the teenager wouldn't want to spend all his time around a grown man. So when he gets this message, he raises an eyebrow - ]
Hey Ryan.
[He tries to think about what this is about, their discussions about powers not on the forefront of his mind. Why is the kid all wet? Did he get into a fight with Korra or some other water mage? He didn't look injured at least...]
