[You know, Zelos knew this message would be coming eventually, but it hardly makes receiving it any easier. No amount of forethought about what he wanted to say prevents him from going blank as he reads it. Nor does it prevent the urge to run, or try to ignore it.
He basically has to fight every part of his natural instincts to stop himself from doing that. As selfish of a bastard as he was, he didn't want anyone else to die thanks to those accursed crystals. Especially when he knows too well how actually brutal it was. ]
So you're the blacksmith huh. Yeah, Sammy mentioned you.
[He reads over the questions, his stomach twisting. These are questions that he's sure Lloyd could answer easily, while he only had basic knowledge. To call himself an expert was laughable.]
Just warning you, I'm not a craftsmen myself. My expertise comes in the form of being the only bastard around with one of these crystals and have, so far, lived to tell the tale, so keep that in mind.
[Not often Zelos gives a disclaimer, but this really wasn't a "fake it 'til you make it" situation]
- Basically keycrests regulates the mana flow between a Cruxis Crystal and their host. Keeps the crystal from siphoning too much. They can come in a lot of forms: chokers, pendents, hand jewelry - just so long as they're attached to the skin somehow.
- Keycrests are made from "inhibitor ore". Basically an ore that can be used to inhibit magic. My current keycrest is made out of Everstone, since the ore used back in Tethe'alla doesn't exist here. If something else would work, I have no idea.
- Absolutely fucking not. Worst case, you could make his mana go out of whack and he'll turn into a monster. Best case, you'll send his organs into shock and he'll suffer from large-scale organ failure. Considering the stage he's already at, I'd say that Crystal's stuck on him for good.
- Important? Don't let that thing touch your skin.
I already told Sammy I don't want money for this. I might have a living selling dick pics, but I'm not a total dick.
... I understand. Anything helps. In another life, my master said, "Nothing is more valuable than lived experience." It holds true for more than just crafting.
[Call him an optimist, call him arrogant, but he's certain he can figure it out.
In the meantime, he's taking notes and drawing diagrams to make sense of it.]
Got it.
You've been more helpful than you realize.
[fjdksjfksdljfklsdf he's going to pretend he didn't read that]
When this is all over, if you want me to take a look at your own keycrest and make adjustments, I'll do it for free.
In the meantime, it seems like I have some mineral testing to do. I'd better get to it.
