Yeah. My weapon just makes me faster and stronger... I guess I wasn't that creative when I picked it. At the time, I didn't think I'd ever be able to use magic, so I didn't bother asking for it.

[Maybe that was a mistake.]

The Seventh Fonon, yeah. I'm... made of it. Asch casts all kinds of spells, so I'm not really concerned about my ability to learn those. I don't think he has healing artes, either.

[He shrugs] Don't sweat it too much, I didn't exactly ask for my weapon either. It just ended up working that way.

[Frankly, he'd get rid of it if he could. He regrets that after all this time, he still hasn't figured out the source of this technology.]

Hmmm...well, if you're made of it- might as well give it a shot. I mean there's some schools of thought that say you gotta have the right personality to have healing artes- but I never really bought into that anyway.

[Seeing how both him and Kratos are jerkwads...]

[It is a little weird that it's supposed to be sentient, but he doesn't have the kind of trauma about those things that Zelos and other Symphonians might.]

What? Personality?

[That's something to think about.]

If that was true, then I'd be worried about how people managed to live this long. [He glances to the side.] Tear and Natalia can both be pretty cold.

[Yep it's so true. Let's face it, for all the problems Auldrant has it's pretty much a happy place next to Aselia.]

[He chuckles a little bit and glances over his shoulder]

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure coldness comes with the job. Believe it or not, I'm practically warm and fuzzy compared to the healers I knew back home.

[Luke makes a face. That's kind of a terrifying thought.]

Well... I guess if you take your hair into consideration, you kinda seem warm.

[He laughs]

I don't think hair counts as a personality trait, Luke.

[NO IT TOTALLY COUNTS SHUT UP]

I don't know. I used to be pretty awful to everyone. After I realized I had to change, I cut off all my hair. It used to be longer, like Asch's.

Uh...huh.

So, are you saying my long hair makes me an unhappy jerk?

[Luke nearly trips.]

N-- no! That's not what I meant at all! [shitshitshitshit BACKPEDAL HARDER] B-besides, you keep your hair in a braid most of the time.

Oh? So my daily hairstyle influences my personality now? [He crosses his arms lightly and gives a smile that is not a normal smile. In fact, it's amazing how his face can take on an almost Jade-like quality sometimes] Please, tell me more.

[NO THIS IS NOT HOW HE WANTED HIS LIFE TO END OH GOD.

Luke gets more and more flustered.]

H-- hey look, this might be a good place to spar! Hahahah...

Really?

[He glances around, considering]

Hmm, I suppose it is! I guess our conversation will have to wait.

[For now]

[He's totally expecting Zelos to wipe the floor with him, but that's what he gets for opening his big mouth. Oh well.

He asked for a spar and he's getting one.

Luke glances around, then takes up a position several yards away. He rests his hand on his sword-hilt, otherwise prepared.]

Ready?

[Zelos meanwhile gives no indication whether or not he's pissed. Only that smirk remains. But he steps into his own battle position, drawing his sword and holding it at stand-by]

Ready when you are.

[Luke nods and draws his sword. Zelos has a shield and magic, so he's obviously at an advantage. But that's okay. Luke didn't exactly set out to win this. He just wants to learn, to spend some of his energy, to get his mind off not seeing Tear until... maybe never.

No, he can't think like that. Focus. Focus.]

Let's go!

[He starts forward, quicker than the last time he fought with Asch. It was raining then, cold, but nothing like the snowy landscape they're in now. When he's within melee range, he gathers some fonons into his sword and cuts a swath through the ground itself, lifting it and sending it flying at Zelos.]

[Zelos meanwhile doesn't appear to be taking this as seriously as Luke is. As usual, he has an apathetic air about him. Like he's simply there to kill some time]

[However, that doesn't mean he'll be an easy opponent. His reflexes and speed are still better than a human's, so by the time Luke is cutting that swath into the ground, Zelos moves out of it's path in anticipation and tries striking at Luke from the side]

[Damn, he's fast. Luke doesn't have time to talk, though. He expected a caster with the ability to fight in close combat, not an expert at BOTH. He parries Zelos' hit and holds his ground, snow and dirt settling around them.

And then he pushes back, hard, trying to trip Zelos up. Probably a fool move, but his own strength surprises him. He's definitely leveled up somewhere along the line.]

[Were it against a normal human, it probably would've been a good idea. Luke is no weakling nor unskilled with a sword, Zelos can tell that much.]

[Unfortunately, this wasn't a normal human. If anything, his time in Exsilium has helped him give up any pretense that he was that. And so when Luke tries to push, he gets a centimeter of surprise before it's suddenly pushing against a wall for a moment]

[And then when that moment passes, Zelos pushes back- hard.]

[Luke goes flying back. He hasn't been deflected like that since fighting Van, and that's saying something. But he's not easily knocked down, and only touches the snow for a moment before he's able to flip back and then land on his feet.

He doesn't take a moment to breathe, kind of afraid of what might happen if Zelos tries getting a spell off. So he charges in again, feinting at the last second. His right hand has a surprise-- a Raging Blast of fonons. JUST FOR YOU.]

[The feint it successful enough that he has to use his shield to block it instead of outright dodging. And the force of it still knocks him back some. However before he hits the ground he's able to flip himself and land on his feet.]

[He knows Luke will probably try to charge again. And since the kid seems not shy about using artes-]

[There's a glow of brown-orange before he slams his sword down into the ground, much like Luke did earlier in the fight. Except instead of sending up chunks, this seems to cause shockwaves in the earth itself as it ripples towards Luke. Grave Blade's gotten a bit stronger.]

[Haha, Luke really is Zelos nerfed.

As he starts to charge again, he finds the ground liquefying beneath his feet. Oh shit. He's caught right in the middle of that Grave Blade, but he hunkers down and guards himself. The barrier only softens the blow so much, but Luke stays on his feet.

He's a little scraped up now, but by no means is he ready to give up. He resumes chase, leaping and gaining some air. Kind of a foolish move, but with all his force behind it, Havoc Strike usually manages to hit at least once-- either with his foot or his sword.]

[Yeah going up into the air when fighting an angel is possibly the dumbest move you can make, but sure Luke. Go ahead and try]

[Zelos moves quickly yet again, out of the path of the Havoc Strike. And with another swipe of his sword, a large blast of wind hits luke from the side as he's still in the air- intent on throwing him off course and to the ground]

[Whoop. There he goes. But, like Zelos, Luke is used to fighting. Despite being knocked back, he doesn't spend a lot of time on the ground, though the cold snow makes him wish he'd worn a full set of gloves instead of just his fingerless ones. He rights himself once again and resumes the assault, this time not stopping for an arte-- only an onslaught of slashes, left, right, and left again.]

[And Zelos is ready for him. The regular onslaught of sword attacks seems to be doing better than artes. It's much harder to be left open when you're simply attacking compared to using those. And so no attack comes, but at the same time, Zelos seems to be matching each of the slashes- meeting them either with his sword and shield. It looks like he's certainly putting in effort! Luke is that good! But he's not struggling either. In fact on the whole his reflexes don't even seem human with how quickly he reacts to each slash.]

Not bad!

[He really isn't human. Luke should've known he'd be like this, considering he's seen his wings and all, but damn.]

You're not bad either!

[Luke is struggling to keep up, but he's not tired yet. This time, instead of trying to force him out of a parry with brute strength, he aims a foot toward Zelos' solar plexus.]
